Lori Burns practiced architecture for over twenty years prior to founding ArchiTales
in 2006. She has found great delight in creating architectural portraits that celebrate individuals
at transition points in their lives and feels that an ArchiTales drawing represents a positive appraisal
of human lives. We’re constantly bombarded with messages that we aren’t “good enough” unless we
buy this or do that. Ms. Burns believes the opposite, and thinks that we should say that someone
is really special just the way they are more often.
Lori Burns graduated from Carleton University
with a degree in Architecture in the early 1980‘s
and became a registered Architect in 1984.
She has practiced architecture in Alberta,
British Columbia and Ontario; her firm specialized
in residential and institutional uses, often combined
with barrier free requirements. She taught in the
Architectural Technology program at George Brown
College for ten years and has developed and taught
technology courses for York Region Board of
Education since 2003.
